Language, Culture and Learning for English Language Learners (Sunday Sessions)
The course will examine cultural and language development factors that impact the achievement of students learning English as a new language. Participants will explore research-based pedagogical practices that can be used to design instruction that meets the needs of English Language Learners. Special emphasis will be placed on student empowerment and agency through inclusive environments and assessments. Participants will be required to complete a paper, midterm quiz and final project.
This course provides 45 CTLE hours in language acquisition for ELLs. It can also be used to fulfill 3 A+/P credits towards the +30 salary differential. The cost is $300 for 45 hours of CTLE credit or $500 for three graduate credit recommendations AND 45 hours of CTLE credit.
If there are fewer than 10 members registered as of three days prior to the course, the course will be canceled. Everyone who registered will receive a credit toward a future course offering.
