Staying on Course: Using Learning Targets to Guide Scaffolding and Differentiation

Date
January 31, 2026
Time
9:00 am - 1:00 pm
Location
Hybrid (In-Person & Virtual)

Earn four hours of CTLE credit with the UFT Teacher Center. This session invites educators to consider how learning targets and success criteria can guide their instructional decisions. Participants will study the DOE's K-12 Mathematics Shifts, the five practices for teaching mathematics and how they support student learning. Using learning targets and success criteria as a lens, participants will reflect on what student work can reveal about students’ understanding. This session will emphasize thoughtful scaffolding that maintains cognitive demand while supporting a gradual release of responsibility. We will close by exploring differentiated pathways — using AI as a planning partner — to offer students multiple ways of reaching the same learning goal.

The cost to attend is $20 for teachers and $10 for paraprofessionals.
