Let’s Get Ready to Rally!

We are so excited to see you at the Fix Tier 6 rally on March 8! Here is everything you need to know to be prepared to show up strong and make our voices heard in Albany.

Reminder: Daylight saving time is Sunday, March 8, at 2 a.m., so please set your clock forward one hour and be aware of that change for your morning rally plans.

Travel information

Buses

If you have registered and received confirmation for one of the UFT buses, please arrive at the site where you are registered 30 minutes before your departure time to check in and be seated to ensure we can leave on time. If you take a UFT bus to Albany, you must take that bus back to the city.

Driving 

For those who are driving themselves, please leave enough travel time to account for possible heavy traffic up by Albany. 

Driving directions to MVP Arena

  • Take I-87 North (NY State Thruway) to Exit 23.
  • Merge onto I-787 North toward Downtown Albany/Rensselaer/Troy.
  • Take Exit 4 for US-9 N./US-20 W. Keep right at the fork in the ramp.
  • Turn left at the traffic light, then make a right turn onto Broadway.
  • Turn left onto Hudson Avenue
  • Turn right onto S. Pearl Street/NY-32.

Parking

There will be free parking at the arena, but in order to make sure you can park there, NYSUT recommends arriving before 10 a.m. Visit Park Albany or Downtown Albany for more information on additional parking options in the area.

Tickets

  • For drivers: tickets will be available at the entrance to the arena. Look for the UFT sign. 
  • For bus passengers: tickets will be given on the bus. 

Rally

Doors open: 10:00 a.m.
Start: noon.
End: 2 p.m.

Seating: Seats vary in terms of how close or far to the stage area you will be, and they will be assigned at random upon receipt of your ticket. We will all be in the arena together and that’s what’s important. 

Please note: Like all large arena events, there will be security checking bags, so plan accordingly (pack light).

Bag policy: CLEAR plastic, vinyl or PVC bags no larger than 12” x 6” x 12” will be allowed. Small clutch bags no larger than 4.5” x 6.5” (approximately the size of a hand) will be allowed and do not need to be clear. Larger and other types of bags are prohibited. There is no storage or check-in for prohibited bags. For patrons with young children in attendance, diaper bags are allowed and subject to search.

Prohibited Items

The following items, including but not limited to, are prohibited:

  • Outside food and beverage
  • Video/audio recorders, including GoPro and stick style HD cameras
  • Backpacks
  • Glass items
  • Lasers and glow sticks
  • iPads
  • Selfie sticks

Food

  • If you are taking UFT bus transportation, you will be given a boxed breakfast on the way up to Albany and a snack on the way home.
  • NYSUT will be providing boxed lunches at the arena.
  • Concessions will be available to purchase in the arena (cashless only).

Swag

  • Swag will be available for UFT members.
  • District reps are doing their best to get this swag to schools with teams of 6 or more.
  • If you don’t have a team of 6 or more and want to arrange for swag pickup before March 6, reach out to your district rep.
  • UFT members who have registered and have not received shirts will get their swag on the day of the rally, either on buses or upon arrival. 
  • Swag is for UFT members only, not guests.
