Barry Berk, Age 79

Barry Berk was a UFT member for 37 years, beginning his career at Junior High School 54 in Manhattan and, after teaching at two other schools, reached retirement as a social studies teacher at the Bronx High School of Science. He loved teaching and was known for bringing excitement, enthusiasm and fun into the classroom. Barry was also an avid union member and walked the picket line several times during his career. He is survived by his wife Marcia, his son Seth, his daughter Wendy and his eight grandchildren.
