Remote learning day on Jan. 26 due to snow

The mayor has made the decision that K-8 schools will pivot to remote instruction on Monday, Jan. 26. High school and 6-12 students are off and will not be in attendance. Stay warm, stay safe.

See the statement sent to principals on Friday, Jan. 23 with remote instruction guidance below. Read the DOE's announcement that instruction will be held remotely on Jan. 26 »

Dear Principals,

The National Weather Service has reported that New York City will experience hazardous weather conditions from Sunday, Jan.  25 through Monday, Jan. 26. We ask that you make advance preparations for a possible pivot to remote instruction in the event that the upcoming weather system impacts city travel conditions and school operations.

Refer to the SY 25-26 Pivot to Remote Checklist (DOE login required), and the SY 25-26 Labor Guidance for digital classroom setup to ensure your school is prepared.

When implementing your digital classroom in the event of a pivot to remote, please consider staggered start times by grade band by 15 minutes to ensure a smooth login experience for students and staff. To further prepare for Monday morning, students and staff should be encouraged to log in to their devices on Saturday or Sunday to confirm connectivity; this will also help cache credentials and minimize any login issues on Monday morning.

The start time for the staff workday and end of the school day remains unchanged. Schools should send families notification of the exact schedule, how and when to access materials and what to expect throughout the school day if there is a need to pivot to remote.
