Managing Stress & Trauma Education: Overcoming Fear: The Art of Opposite Action (MAP)
Looking for practical tools to better manage stress, navigate difficult emotions, and feel more confident handling challenging situations? The UFT Member Assistance Program is partnering with the Center for Trauma and Stress Education (CTSE) to offer a series of free, one-hour monthly trainings focused on practical skills for managing stress, navigating challenging situations, and supporting emotional well-being. Led by Harvard-trained doctors and clinical psychologists, each interactive session provides evidence-based tools that members can use in both their professional and personal lives. UFT members will also receive 1 CTLE credit upon completion of each training.
When fear takes over, it can pull us toward avoidance, anger, or shutting down — even when those reactions move us further from what we need.
In this interactive session, participants will explore how fear shows up in the mind and body and learn how to recognize the patterns it can create. Using Opposite Action, an evidence-based skill for responding differently when fear is driving the moment, members will practice strategies for moving forward with greater confidence and intention.
Walk away with practical tools to face fear, interrupt avoidance, and take action even when discomfort is present.
