You may be enjoying your retirement benefits now, but you know how hard we had to fight to fix the pension tiers. Our fellow UFT members who are in Tier 6 now need our help. As it stands, they must work until age 63 to collect an unreduced pension. You can help them by joining us at a Tier 6 rally in Albany with NYSUT on March 8! The rally will be full of performances, activism and union solidarity.

Save the date for the 2026 UFT Early Childhood Conference. Attend day of creativity, growth, discovery and collaboration as we shape the future of education for our youngest learners. Welcoming educators serving 3-K, pre-K, K, 1st grade and 2nd grade, this event offers an opportunity to earn four CTLE hours from relevant workshops, hear from an inspiring keynote speaker and meet with colleagues from across the city. All District 13 probationary members with one to four years of service to a special tenure workshop. District 13 Superintendent Meghan Dunn will outline expectations for probationary members. Teacher development and evaluation coach Marian Burnbaum will review portfolio expectations, and UFT education liaisons Miriam Quiles and Thomas Pascarella will guide you through the process and explain your union rights.

UFT Climate & Environmental Justice Committee members are invited to register for the committee's upcoming meeting. Register to attend online or in person and get important updates and information pertaining to the committee's plans for the spring semester.

This event is hosted by the UFT Elementary Schools Division, but members from all divisions and work sites are welcome. Registration is required.

Mental illness and addiction affect people regardless of race, education, or career. To help shatter the stigmas and stereotypes around these conditions, the UFT Member Assistance Program has partnered with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI-NYC) to bring a unique presentation, “In Our Own Voice”, to our members.

Queens parents and caregivers are invited to register for an informative workshop on healthy, loving relationships. February invites us to gently unpack the idea of love beyond romance. Together, we will explore self-love, boundaries, forgiveness and how our past experiences shape the way we give and receive love. This session from Hey There Beautiful Foundation creates a safe space to reflect, heal and redefine love in ways that feel authentic and nourishing.

The UFT's annual Black History Month film series will run from Thursday, Jan. 29, to Thursday, Feb. 26, this school year. The theme is "Echoes of Resilience: Stories of Heritage and Struggle." From the preserved traditions of the Gullah Geechee people to the frontlines of health care activism and personal battles for identity and survival, these films celebrate the enduring power of our community. Each screening will be followed by a guided discussion. Join this session to view the documentary Takeover.
