The UFT’s Invitational Golf Outing on Oct. 10 at Silver Lake Golf Course on Staten Island was a driving success, with more than $82,000 raised for the UFT Disaster Relief Fund, according to union President Michael Mulgrew. A good time was had by the 115 golfers who participated and the other 43 people who joined them for the gala luncheon. Tim Evans, a social studies teacher at Brooklyn HS for the Arts, led a four-person team that shot a 75. “They rolled out the red carpet for all the participants,” Evans said. “The course was in excellent condition, and we were lucky enough to get good weather.” The event featured awards for the top golfers and a raffle. Mulgrew, whose team got the award for “Best Golf Outfits,” called the outing far better than par for the course. “It was a beautiful day for a good cause,” he said.
