Medicare Part B and IRMAA 2024 reimbursements

New York Teacher

If you are Medicare eligible, you should have received your 2024 standard Medicare Part B reimbursement from the New York City Office of Labor Relations in April 2025. Retirees and/or eligible dependents with Medicare Part B were reimbursed at the rate of $174.70 for each month they paid for Medicare Part B in the 2024 calendar year. If you have direct deposit set up for your pension, the funds should have been deposited into your account by the end of April.

Some retired UFT members with higher incomes may also be eligible for the annual Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amount (IRMAA) reimbursement because they pay more than the standard Medicare Part B premium.

If you are eligible for IRMAA, May or June is the time to file for it. Your application for your 2024 IRMAA must be accompanied by the 2024 Social Security benefits letter that you received in November 2023 and your 2024 Social Security 1099 form that you received in January 2025.

New York City’s Health Benefits Program will begin to process the 2024 IRMAA applications in June.

The 2024 IRMAA reimbursement is scheduled to be issued in October 2025.
