UFT retirees with 50, 60 and 70 years of service were honored at the Retired Teachers Chapter Luncheon at UFT headquarters on May 23.

Membership in the Retired Teachers Chapter confers many benefits — from social services support and Si Beagle classes to legal assistance — but retirees must sign up to remain UFT members and enjoy the perks.

Louise Naples, a retired school secretary, has become an avid quilter in retirement. Her quilts were recently on display at The Center, a communal gathering space at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Kew Gardens, Queens.

The Labor Solidarity Project connects RTC members with opportunities to support the labor movement as a whole. Members boost unionized workers' spirits, showing up on the picket lines in support of unionized workers as varied as those for theater shows and Amazon fulfillment centers.

UFT retirees who are enrolled in the union’s Supplemental Health Insurance Program (SHIP) will now enjoy improved dental benefits and some much-needed relief from health insurance plan copays.
