Around the UFT
Early Childhood Conference 2026
Hundreds of early childhood educators gathered at UFT Headquarters to address a serious topic: the power of play. The UFT’s 18th annual Early Childhood Conference integrated the theme “learning through play” throughout the joyous events of the day — from a group karaoke sing-along to powerful presentations and nine CTLE-credit-bearing workshops.
Educators Night on Broadway
Some 500 UFT members enjoyed a performance of Broadway's "Buena Vista Social Club," the featured event of this year's Educators Night on Broadway, an annual collaboration between the Broadway League and the UFT.
‘Here, there and everywhere’
About 300 Retired Teachers Chapter members and guests attended the RTC Luncheon, which featured performances by the New York City Labor Chorus, and Jimmy Hill and the All-starz Band, whose blues, soul and funk music got attendees dancing.
The RTC gave out 10 awards honoring members’ activism, advocacy, leadership and dedication. The chapter also recognized 50-, 60- and 70-year union members for their service.
UFT Players performance
At their annual Original Plays Festival, held March 12 and 13 at UFT headquarters in Manhattan, the UFT Players Committee, a spirited troupe of educators-turned-performers, brought six original short plays to life—each one brimming with humor, heart, and just the right touch of the unexpected.
Social Workers Appreciation Day
School social workers gathered at UFT headquarters and online on March 6 for a day of professional development and networking to mark the 10th annual Social Workers Appreciation Day.
School Counselors Conference
The invaluable need for human connection in a fast-moving digital world was top of mind as School Counselors Chapter Leader Rosemarie Thompson welcomed about 200 counselors and other related service providers to union headquarters for the 22nd annual School Counselors Conference.
