Clinicians Appreciation Day

Nearly 1,300 attendees gathered online and at UFT headquarters for the 20th annual UFT Clinicians Appreciation Day for a mix of professional development, networking and for the first time, an awards ceremony honoring the School Psychologist and School Social Worker of the year.

UFT Secretary LeRoy Barr awarded highest honor

UFT Secretary LeRoy Barr, the winner of the Charles Cogen Award at Teacher Union Day on Nov. 2, discovered the value of strength in unity and learning from veterans early in his career.

Teacher Union Day

About 1,700 UFT members and guests marked the union’s 65th anniversary at this year’s observance of Teacher Union Day on Nov. 2 by honoring union members past and present for their efforts to improve working conditions and strengthen members’ rights and benefits.

Defending immigrant students

About 300 UFT members from schools across the city attended one of the union's immigration workshops in October and November. The sessions walked members through the steps to establish school-based committees to support and defend immigrant families.


Parent conferences

More than 500 parents, caregivers and community members poured into UFT borough offices this fall for the UFT's annual parent conferences in each borough.

New Retiree Luncheon

Some 265 recent UFT retirees were celebrated for their service, passion and commitment to changing students’ lives during this UFT Welfare Fund annual event.
