Pension experience counts

New York Teacher

Congratulations to Christina McGrath on her nomination by the UFT for trustee of the Teachers’ Retirement Board. And a thank-you to David Kazansky for his service as trustee. Best wishes as David embarks on a role of guiding trustees of AFT locals around the nation.

I worked with both Christina and David when I served as the union’s Bronx borough representative over 17 years ago. Both are great people committed to serving our members with knowledge and empathy for their needs.

The guarantee and success of our pensions depend on teacher-member trustees who have in-depth experience as UFT pension consultants and advisers. Christina McGrath has worked in the UFT Pension Department for more than 20 years. She fully understands and is committed to the concept that our union’s elected trustees work united in meetings they have with the three TRS trustees appointed by the city. Our teacher-member trustees are a bulwark against any city attempts to undermine or abuse our pension system.
