The Walton High School community is celebrating the groundbreaking of its new softball field. With advocacy from the five schools in the Walton Campus, City Council Member Eric Dinowitz helped secure two million in city funding to rebuild the rutted, rodent-infested, worn-out field. Before being elected to the City Council, Dinowitz was a special education teacher who taught at the Celia Cruz High School on the Walton Campus.

Reconstruction of the field is slated to begin June 27, the day after school ends for students.

Dinowitz, other Bronx elected officials, and school officials are expected to attend the celebration. Press will be able to film the celebration.
