Barry Berk was a UFT member for 37 years, beginning his career at Junior High School 54 in Manhattan and, after teaching at two other schools, reached retirement as a social studies teacher at the Bronx High School of Science.

Norman Pape began teaching in 1962 at PS 99 in Manhattan and retired from Manhattan’s Academy of Environmental Science in 1996.

Richard Paris was a physical education teacher by trade and a UFT member for 40 years, working at McKinley JHS 259 and Shallow IS 227, both in Brooklyn.

Ira Wolin was a UFT member for 35 years and worked at many schools in Brooklyn and Queens over the years.

Amy Kargman was a UFT member for 50 years, first teaching third grade at PS 279 in Brooklyn, before becoming art coordinator that school.

Schaum was a 1st grade teacher in District 12 in the Bronx for 26 years before retiring in 1991.

She was a counselor and teacher for more than 40 years at PS 61 in the Bronx before her retirement in 1982.

Ruth Harwayne, a founding member of the UFT, was a business teacher and a SPARK coordinator at Washington Irving HS in Manhattan.

A former English teacher at New Utrecht HS in Brooklyn, Paul was a lover of jazz, literature and movies and believed in education through the arts.

Irene Ruth Hammer Goldstein taught at PS 115 in Queens and was a UFT chapter leader.

Kinereth Louise Stubbs taught at PS 192 in West Harlem for 34 years. Teaching was her passion.

Sylvia Kuller taught English at IS 246 in Flatbush, Brooklyn, and later became a guidance counselor at the school.

Alice Lombardi was a mathematics coordinator for the Department of Education.

Leo Benardo began his career as a teacher of foreign languages in the New York City public school system in 1947.

Edith Packer-Greenberg taught 6th grade and gifted children at PS 42 in Arverne, Queens for many years.
