UFT Lobby Day 2024
Nearly 1,000 educators, parents and advocates traveled on buses to attend the UFT’s annual Lobby Day in Albany. They asked state lawmakers to add more checks and balances to mayoral control of New York City public schools, fix Tier 6 of the pension system, require the city to follow the state's class size law and increase state foundation aid for New York City.

Review the contractual language pertaining to the staffing and responsibilities of your New Teacher Induction Committee. Consider how this committee can support new teachers and increase member engagement. Explore ways to amplify the impact of this committee in your school community.
Manhattan Distributive Leadership Series: End-of-year decisions and reorganization grievances
The UFT's Manhattan borough office is offering workshops to further engage and empower you and your chapter. Prepare for various deadlines and final committee meetings. Explore the rules and timelines surrounding preference sheets. Learn about which positions are supposed to be posted and how selection is intended to take place as well as when to file a reorganization grievance. Consider strategies for having conversations with administration surrounding plans for the fall. This workshop is exclusively for chapter leaders with lunch prep and/or UFT prep during this time.
