Nurses get better staffing at NYU Langone—Brooklyn
The Federation of Nurses/UFT on Feb. 27 overwhelmingly ratified a two-year contract with NYU Langone Hospital – Brooklyn that increases salaries, rewards experience and specialty training, and enriches staffing, the top priority for many of the 900 nurses in the chapter.
Florida teachers march for better pay and support
Thousands of Florida teachers did not report to work on Jan. 13 in order to march in Tallahassee to protest decades of systematic attacks on public education, despite threats by the state education department against them and their union.
Women’s basketball players win new contract
The Women’s National Basketball Association and its players’ union on Jan. 14 announced a collective bargaining agreement that will boost players’ salaries and improve their benefits, including providing a full salary for players on parental leave and an annual child care stipend of $5,000.

Bright Horizons Day Care workers in downtown Brooklyn have triumphantly pinned their “Union Proud” buttons back on to celebrate winning a National Labor Relations Board settlement in October that ensures the UFT members "have the right to wear union buttons and other union insignia in the workplace.”
Resolution in support of the American Federation of Musicians, Local 802
The UFT wholeheartedly supports the members of Local 802 of the American Federation of Musicians in their efforts to secure the residual payments that are often the lifeblood of their profession.
Resolution to support NYC transit workers
The United Federation of Teachers supports the TWU as they negotiate on behalf of their members and supports a fair contract for transit workers.
UFT wins Regents scoring grievance
An independent arbitrator has ruled in a precedent-setting decision that the Department of Education improperly denied retention rights to a teacher for Regents scoring in June on the grounds that she had not participated in scoring Regents the previous January.
