Medicare Part B and IRMAA 2025 reimbursements

New York Teacher

If you are Medicare eligible, you should have received your 2025 standard Medicare Part B reimbursement from the New York City Office of Labor Relations (OLR) in April 2026.

Retirees and/or eligible dependents with Medicare Part B were reimbursed at the rate of $174.70 for each month they paid for Medicare Part B in the 2025 calendar year. If you have direct deposit set up for your pension, the funds should have been deposited into your account by the end of April.

Anyone who did not receive a direct deposit or a paper check during the month of April should contact the Health Benefits Program (Retirees) at OLR directly at 212-513-0470 or by email, healthbenefits [at] olr [dot] nyc [dot] gov (healthbenefits[at]olr[dot]nyc[dot]gov).

Some retired UFT members with higher incomes may also be eligible for the annual Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amount (IRMAA) reimbursement because they pay more than the standard Medicare Part B premium.

If you are eligible for IRMAA, May or June is the time to file for it. Your application for your 2025 IRMAA must be accompanied by the 2025 Social Security benefits letter that you received in November 2024 and your 2025 Social Security 1099 form that you received in January 2026. New York City’s Health Benefits Program will begin to process the 2025 IRMAA applications in June.

The 2025 IRMAA reimbursement is scheduled to be issued in October 2026. Visit uft.org/irmaa for further details about IRMAA.
