Turning 73 in 2025 and have a tax-deferred annuity? You will have to begin making annual withdrawals from your TDA.
No RTC event invitations?
Are you not receiving invitations to the RTC monthly membership meetings? Email is now the primary way that the union communicates about events and news. It takes only a few minutes to subscribe or resubscribe to UFT mail.
Optional drug rider reimbursement increases
Each year at the beginning of March, eligible retirees receive a partial reimbursement from the UFT Welfare Fund for the cost of an optional prescription drug rider. This year, the amount will increase.
SHIP 2025 premium notices
The UFT's Supplemental Health Insurance Program's 2025 premium notices will be sent in early January.
New spending cap for Medicare Part D
If you have opted for Medicare’s voluntary prescription drug rider (Part D) for 2025, you may potentially spend less out of pocket for prescription drugs. Under the federal Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, beneficiaries now have a spending cap of $2,000 on covered drugs, after which Medicare pays 100% of the cost for the rest of the year.
