UFT abandons Medicare Advantage
In late June, the UFT withdrew its support for the city’s proposed Medicare Advantage plan for New York City’s Medicare-eligible retirees.
2024 COLA increase is 1.8%
Retirees will see a 1.8% increase in their UFT pension checks due to the cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) that was hard fought by the union and the rest of New York State's labor movement.

IRMAA 2023 reimbursements
Medicare B 2023 IRMAA reimbursements are scheduled to be issued by October 2024. Eligible retirees must submit the IRMAA 2023 application along with required supporting documents.
2024 Retired Teachers Chapter elections
The 2024 Retired Teachers Chapter elections will take place this spring. The elections will determine various leadership positions, including chapter leader, vice chairs, secretaries, treasurer, and executive board members.
