2021 Spring RTC elections
Every three years, members of the Retired Teachers Chapter have the opportunity to elect their chapter’s leadership. The RTC bipartisan election committee, in coordination with the American Arbitration Association, has agreed on the following dates and deadlines for its 2021 chapter elections, which will be conducted by mail.
Social Security, Supplemental Security benefits
Social Security and Supplemental Security Income benefits for approximately 70 million Americans will increase 1.3 percent in 2021, the Social Security Administration has announced.
Georgia on our minds
The get-out-the-vote effort in the swing state of Georgia was strong with the help of the AFTVotes bus that rolled into Atlanta on Oct. 28.
Retiree lump-sum payments
Members who retired after June 30, 2014, are eligible for the first half of their final lump-sum payment in November.
Florida office ribbon-cutting
RTC members in Florida flocked to Boca Raton for the reopening of the remodeled Florida Retiree Center on Feb. 27. Required minimum distributions suspended for 2020
The recent CARES Act legislation has suspended RMDs for 2020 for defined-contribution plans like TRS’ TDA Program.
