Early Childhood Conference
More than 300 educators in grades 3-K though 2 enjoyed a day of inspiration, camaraderie and professional development with an emphasis on how important a strong start is to a child’s educational achievement.
Future in Focus career fair
About 450 students from 35 high schools learned about jobs in unionized fields at the UFT Academic High School Division’s 8th annual Future in Focus job fair.
Better Speech and Hearing Month Celebration
The UFT Speech Improvement Chapter presented 31 awards at the 19th annual Better Speech and Hearing Month Celebration on May 27. Award-winning topics and projects included raising awareness about stuttering, communicating with devices, using a school snack shop to expand communication skills and bringing speech therapy into the classroom.
Academic High School Awards
About 250 UFT members from the city's academic high schools gathered on April 25 at union headquarters to honor outstanding educators and schools and to celebrate 10 years since the UFT's first Academic High Schools awards.
UFT Pride Committee’s AIDS Walk
UFT members took part in the 40th annual AIDS Walk in Central Park and raised more than $5,000 for research and lifesaving programs for those living with HV/AIDS.
RTC Luncheon
UFT President Michael Mulgrew celebrated retirees’ lengthy service to the city and their enduring commitment to public education, their students and communities at the 59th Retired Teachers Chapter Luncheon on May 23 at UFT headquarters.
