Florence Washington, Age 85

Florence Washington was a UFT member for 30 years, most recently as a teacher’s assistant at IS 52 in the Bronx. She assisted special needs students with reading and language arts, never turning her back on any child or teacher who needed her help. Florence often volunteered her time to support her school’s activities, including graduation ceremonies, prom and the senior trip. She also organized staff luncheons and was known to bring clothing from her own children for students in need. Florence is survived by her five adult children: Delores, Joyce, Tobe, Kevin and Gerald.
