The DOE has released the 2022-23 school year calendar. See the version for families and for DOE staff.

Here are the highlights:

  • Tuesday, Sept. 6: Teachers report
  • Thursday, Sept. 8: First day of school for students
  • Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 26-27: Schools closed for Rosh Hashanah
  • Wednesday, Oct. 5: Schools closed for Yom Kippur
  • Monday, Oct. 10: Schools closed for Indigenous People's Day
  • Tuesday, Nov. 8: Chancellor's Conference Day for Election Day; no students in attendance
  • Friday, Nov. 11: Schools closed for Veterans Day
  • Thursday-Friday, Nov. 24-25: Schools closed for Thanksgiving
  • Monday, Dec. 26 through Monday, Jan. 2: Schools closed for winter recess
  • Monday, Jan. 16: Schools closed for MLK Day
  • Monday, Feb. 20 through Friday, Feb. 24: Schools closed for midwinter recess
  • Thursday, April 6 through Friday, April 14: Schools closed for spring break
  • Friday, April 21: Schools closed for Eid al-Fitr
  • Monday, May 29: Schools closed for Memorial Day
  • Thursday, June 8: Chancellor's Conference Day; no students in attendance
  • Friday, June 9: Clerical Day; no students in attendance except in high schools
  • Monday, June 19: Schools closed for Juneteenth
  • Tuesday, June 27: Last day of school for students
  • Wednesday, June 28: Schools closed for Eid al-Adha; no staff report
  • Friday, June 30: Last day of school for secretaries, counselors, school psychologists and social workers
