Creating Safety: Engaging LGBTQ+ clients seeking substance use disorder treatment with trauma-informed affirmative care (MAP)

In this UFT Member Assistance Program (MAP) workshop for social workers and psychologists, participants will expand upon this to explore the interplay of trauma and substance use, highlighting substance misuse as both a survival and a pleasure-seeking strategy. Get a better understanding of LGBTQ+ clients' experiences seeking substance use treatment and the importance of creating a safe, welcoming environment. This training will also help participants to identify key components of care for LGBTQ+ people and to develop skills to improve their delivery of trauma-informed, affirmative care.

  • Earn two CE hours by completing this course. 
  • After you've attended and evaluated the course, you will receive a signed certificate of completion via email.
  • The union will keep track of your accumulated continuing education credits for as long as 7 years.
